Subject: Vacancy: Business Development, Theoretical & Computational Mechanics

University of Nottingham, School of Civil Engineering
Spencer Institute of Theoretical & Computational Mechanics

Business Development Executive (Fixed-term)

£31,525 - £38,772 per annum
Salary can progress to £44,947 per annum, subject to performance

This new post is key to the successful development of the recently
established Spencer Institute of Theoretical and Computational mechanics -
a multidisciplinary institute involving several Schools and covering a
wide range of academic areas including mathematics, engineering, physics
and computer sciences.

The successful candidate will be expected to be proactive in bringing
together the different academic groups involved in the new Institute and
will play an essential role in helping them to realise their collaborative
research potential. Working closely with the Directors of the Institute
and senior academic staff across the Schools, the key objectives will be
to develop collaborative research projects across the member departments,
and to raise the Institute's profile through proactive marketing.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-starter who is keen to become
actively involved in individual project development, whilst also taking a
leading role in some of the planned strategic initiatives. Candidates
must hold a degree in mathematics, physics or engineering, or significant
relevant work experience, and an understanding of the academic and
research environment. Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and
presentation skills are essential.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of two
years.
