The University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Community Studies, as part of the Peninsula Postgraduate Health Institute, is offering 4 PhD studentships for high calibre applicants to undertake projects relating to the School's programme of research. Each of the studentships will be funded for 3 years duration, commencing January 2007. For each award, the School will meet the PhD costs at the Home/EU rate and provide a doctoral stipend of £12,300 per year, subject to satisfactory progress. Candidates from countries outside the European Union will be liable for the difference between 'home student fees' and 'foreign student fees'. The impact of telephone support for patients discharged from hospital with long term conditions;
The involvement of family carers in the rehabilitation of older patients;
The use of information technology by older people to aid social support networks and home living;
Using e-learning to improve medication management by nursing staff in care homes;
Evaluation of different types of Internet based support for women's decision making during pregnancy;
Evaluation of different types of Internet based support for older people with disabilities.
