Just as a matter of consistency, shouldn't LEADZ be called
LEFTZ (and TRAILZ be called RIGHTZ)? On a little endian
implementation, the "leading" zeros are the least significant
ones. In fact, regardless of the conventions of the hardware,
the Fortran standard itself describes things using little endian.
But, no matter which endian your implementation uses, everyone
displays data with the most significant bits on the left and the least
significant on the right. So, LEFTZ and RIGHTZ remain correct
mnemonically on all platforms.

that there are no obvious deficiencies." -- C. A. R. Hoare
