One of the more interesting recent advances in random number generation
is the Mersenne Twister generator. Type "Mersenne random numbers" into
google for lots of information. This one has more "state" than most
others, so it might not be the best for your particular application.
However, given that almost every other option has been posted, I thought
this should be included in the postings.
