Re Slag
Lots of similar material can be seen in fields in west riding, yorks. It
came in as debris whan basic slag was spread(as a fertilizer) from local
iron works. Found in other areas near to railways when it was used in its
massive form for balast and local road metalling.

Hello Roger,
Was there any known smeltering activity in the area in the past? Maybe this
was used as a dump gound.
