Good afternoon!
I have just been asked by a Physiotherapist for a consent form signed by
the employee to be sent to him, the Physio, giving the employees consent
for him to release the Physio report to me, the OHA. Apparently, this is
the "correct" way to do it and "all Physios" are doing this and I should
have known about this procedure. It is the same process as AMRA form with
regard to employees Doctors. The Physio will not release his report to me
until this is done. Furthermore, it is my responsibility to do this and
not his, which I would not have minded if he had told me of the process in
advance. I did ask why he did not ask employee to sign a form at his
assessment this morning. But it was my job to have done this!I am now back
home in the South, the employee and Physio are in the Midlands and I now
need to "create" a form, post it to employee, employee return it to me,
signed and then I post it to Physio. Then i get assessment report to
incorporate into my rehab plan which was planned for employee to start on
Monday. Oh and the Physio will not give me any verbal feed back/guidance
either as that would be breaking confidentiality too!The employee rehab
plan now set back and governed by the postal service! Has anyone else out
there come across this? Am i not up to date on legal practices that i
should be aware of? Any and all answers greatly appreciated! Regards, Sue
