On 23rd August ALISS (Association of Librarians and Information Professionals in the Social Sciences) will be holding a one day conference on the challenges for library and information workers face in providing innovative services for the ‘Google Generation’. It will include presentations from ongoing projects and practical tips from practitioners. The speakers will include:
Peter Godwin, South Bank University on the role of information literacy in facing the challenge of the ‘Google generation’.
Margaret Flett on the challenges and opportunities offered by implementing cross-searching of e-resources at UCL
Frank Parry on the experience of implementing Metalib at Loughborough University.
Matt Lingard LSE Centre for Learning technology on the development and potential usages of Weblogs and Wikis in an information setting.
Sarah Pavey Librarian Epsom College on the role of the school librarian in educating users
Angela Joyce on the potential benefits of the new Intute service in helping information workers educate users.
Cost: £70 ALISS Members, Non-Members £90. This will include a buffet lunch, tea/coffee.
