The National Preservation Office is running its popular course How clean
are your books? on 4 December 2006. Full details and an online
registration form are at http://www.bl.uk/services/npo/clean06.html
Surface dirt on library and archive materials is unsightly, unhealthy
and provides nourishment for pests. It is often an indication of poor
standards of collection care. The NPO has organised a training day to
demonstrate how dirt damages collections and how it can be tackled using
a variety of methods.
