ARCHIVIST
Band 6 £21,780 - £26,900 (Pay award pending)
The BGS Archive is a major research resource for the history and
development of the Survey and British geology since its foundation in 1835
and comprises an extensive collection of primary material from founders of
the survey to the present. The main sites are at our headquarters at
Keyworth, Nottingham and our office in Edinburgh. We are looking for a
committed, experienced and highly motivated professional archivist to
manage the collection. You will be responsible for providing overall
management and administration of the archives service, ensuring a user-
focused, efficient service. You will develop an archive strategy to
develop and exploit the existing collections, with particular emphasis on
cataloguing and public access. You will develop contacts within the Survey
and related organisations. This will include liaison with archives of
other research institutes and with regional and national professional
bodies.
