CLINICAL TRIALS AND STATISTICS UNIT
The Institute of Cancer Research, one of the world's leading cancer research centres, is looking for medical statisticians with varying levels of experience to join its Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit (ICR-CTSU) at its Sutton site. The ICR-CTSU is accredited by the National Cancer Research Institute and has a research portfolio of national and international phase III RCTs with a special emphasis in breast cancer treatment, radiotherapy technology and urology trials.
MEDICAL STATISTICIAN
CLIN 48
You will work on the initiation, conduct and analysis of local and national randomised clinical trials of cancer treatment including:
* study design and protocol development
* statistical analysis
* trial management and monitoring
This will involve working closely with clinical colleagues at the Royal Marsden NHS Trust and other collaborators in the UK.
You should hold a first degree in statistics and have at least 1-2 years experience in medical statistics or a post graduate qualification in statistics. In addition you should have excellent communication skills as the ability to communicate statistical results and concepts to collaborators will form an essential part of this post.
This appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract for 3 years in the first instance with a salary in the range of £23,619 pa to £33,416 pa. Excellent conditions including 30 days holiday, pension scheme, sports and social facilities.
Interviews are planned to be held in the period 26 April - 4 May.

It is at an exciting time at ICR-CTSU. Trials are offering analytical challenges when looking at quality of life datasets, treatment morbidity and efficacy trade-offs. There is also the potential to develop an associated programme of methodological research in addition to overseeing a portfolio randomised clinical trials of cancer treatment.
