Hi Polly,
We have a contract with the Bridgeman art library that covers the most
popular pieces in our art collection and they deal with all the admin
and charging for those. I'm sure that they could provide a schedule of
their commercial rates.
For the rest of our collection, I'm sure that our rates are out of date
too!
However, we would always ask for payment (at a rate agreed with the
enquirer on the basis of intended usage) before the provision of an
image as, like you, we have found that chasing people up afterwards is
not very effective.
Hope that helps a little,
Georgina

My colleagues are looking to update our prices for reproduction of our
images (colour, b/w, national/international, variety of publications
etc.) & for photocopies. We believe our prices are too low.
We also have a problem with having to chase up unpaid invoices - to the
point where we give up before spending more then we'd eventually
receive.
Does anyone have any information on current prices & ways of getting our
money? We don't often know the cost until the work is done so are not
sure how easy it would be to set a cost & require payment before the
work was done & 'goods' sent. Might a basic administration fee help?
Thank you
Polly
