We are particularly interested in papers from international scholars.
The preliminary program lists presentations alphabetically by first author,
or by session.

Proposal Deadline. The deadline to submit a proposal was 11/1/05.
Because of the strong response, we have added more meeting space, and we can
accept a some additional proposals - a few workshops or panels and a few
dozen Informal Roundtables. No AV is allowed with Informal Roundtables.
Please submit a proposal today; when the space is full, no more can be accepted.
About the Conference. For a country to flourish and grow, and for a
democracy to sustain liberty and justice, the next generation of citizens
must acquire the civic skills, abilities and commitments to govern. This
interdisciplinary conference will draw together researchers and
practitioners, including:
* K-12 educators and counselors,
* University faculty and researchers,
* State coordinators, policy makers and evaluators,
* School and University administrators,
* Staff from youth-serving community based organizations.
This would include work on:
* service-learning,
* moral education,
* character education,
* democratic education,
* violence prevention,
* substance abuse prevention.
Orlando, Florida. Orlando, is one of the top travel destinations in the
United States. The weather is great, and with Disney and the many theme
parks, it is the top destination for vacationing families. However Orlando
has more than Mickey Mouse; the city is a short drive from the beach and
there are is now a vibrant nightlife. From Sun to Golf to Blues and NASA,
Orlando is a perfect place to meet.
The Centre for Policy and Practice is an independent, non-partisan
organization that supports research and its application to real world
questions. The Director of the Centre is William Morgan. Will has run
several civic education programs and conducts research on the impacts of
civic education. Will received the Points of Light Award from the Points of
Light Foundation, was recognized by the Fund for Social Entrepreneurs at
Youth Serve America and was named a Fellow at the John Glenn Institute or
his service-learning research.
Conference Registration. Conference registration includes two breakfasts,
two lunches and one reception. Conference registration is lower if you stay
in the conference hotel (which has rooms at $99/night). See the conference

faculty/professionals. Prices are higher if you register late. All
attendees and presenters are expected to register.
