Correct https is not backwards compatible to http.

Tarball release will be available very shortly, tomorrow I expect.
I use the tarballs at RAL as well and have made the existing one work.
lxplus.cern.ch also requires them. Everything required is there now,
expect an announcement tomorrow, it looked like it was all working
at the end of today.
For those not requiring tar ball installations then everything is
good now to go.

The fix is in what was appearing at the end of today, should be announced
tomorrow. This will not require the symlink to get things working.
