Just did my monthly log in to Quick to clear out the junk mail and I
noticed the message below. Of course, The Quick Service is no more, and
we could make this hot astronomer of UCL suffer, in the hope that he
would complain to PPARC at Starlink's demise.
Given that this is the first Quick query since closure and that 64-bit
builds have been a frequent topic in this forum, somebody might like to
respond with the season of goodwill imminently upon us.

Subject: 64 bit Starlink fortran libraries..
Dear Sir / Madam,
Hopefully you can be of assistance here:
I have recently been utilising some fortran routines which require some
linking to the starlink fortran archives which come with the Starlink
installation. Unfortunately, it seems that as my computer is a 64bit
machine that, on compiling, these 32bit archives will not link. I have
tried to forcea 32bit compile but this has had no effect. It may well
be
that the command I used for forcing 32bit compile is not working in g77
however, I believe that by re-compiling the source for the archives and
re-creating the archives on my machine (in 64bit) this problem will be
circumvented.
If this is so, would it be possible for me to get hold of the full source
for these archives, or alternatively, if you have another solution for
this problem could you please advise or put me in touch with the person
that can help.
I sincerely hope I have not done anything inappropriate by contacting
you, I am desperate for a solution as this is key to my research.
I thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer.
Yours sincerely,
Matthew North,
Hot Stars Group,
UCL.
