Discussion of family and community change can operate with taken-for-
granted assumptions about the nature of family and community relationships
in the past, and contemporary policies may proceed without reference to
past initiatives or understanding how far and in what ways the social
context has changed. But what are the merits and drawbacks of historical
perspectives in informing policy responses? The panel presentations and
discussion will focus on applying social historical perspectives in the
development of contemporary policies addressing families and communities.
Drinks and finger buffet to follow panel discussion. There is no
registration fee.
