Subject: Vacancies : Leipzig University
Simon Dubnow Institute for Jewish History and Culture, Leipzig University
The major focus of the work of the Simon Dubnow Institute is to integrate
the history of the Jews in terms of content and method into general
universal history. Jewish history, seen as a 'plural' history of the Jews
and diverse Jewries in complex intercultural historical spaces, is
investigated in a very fundamental sense in its trans-national and
pan-European context. This will assist in countering tendencies toward any
isolating vantage in examining the history of the Jews, either from a Jewish
or non-Jewish perspective. Thematic foci in research are legal history,
diplomatic history, institutional history, the history of science, literary
and cultural history, the history of relations, history of memory and
migration history.
