Hi Santanu
First thing, check if there's anything bound to the 2811 port where gridftp is
supposed to listen (try "netstat -tlp"). At Durham we had a problem with the
old classic SE gridftp server starting up and grabbing he port (try
"chkconfig --list globus-gridftp").
Then check in /var/log/messages, which is where this daemon should be logging
to - it should tell you why it can't start. I get:
Dec 1 22:18:14 se2-gla dpm-gsiftp: dpm.ftpd -TERM succeeded
Dec 1 22:18:14 se2-gla gridftpd[21781]: FTP server (GridFTP Server 1.12
GSSAPI type Globus/GSI wu-2.6.2 (gcc32dbg, 1069715860-42)) ready.
Dec 1 22:18:14 se2-gla dpm-gsiftp: dpm-gsiftp.log startup succeeded
Hope that helps.
