SOCIOLOGY
The Department of Sociology, at the University of Lethbridge, invites applications for a probationary (tenure-track) appointment, as an Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2006, subject to budgetary approval.
This position is open to all qualified applicants, although preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. A Ph.D. is required. Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to teach courses in the core areas of statistics, research methodology, classical theory, or contemporary theory. Other areas of specialization are open. However, preference may be given to applicants with an active research program in criminology, the sociology of health and wellness, or the sociology of sport and leisure. New faculty members are eligible for university funding in support of research and scholarly activities. Located in southern Alberta, near the Rocky Mountains, Lethbridge offers a sunny, dry climate which is surprisingly mild for the prairies, excellent cultural and recreational amenities and attractive economic conditions.
