2 researchers needed for EU eCIRCUS project, starting 1 March 2006
DEADLINE: Jan 16th
INTERVIEWS: Jan 24th
The eCIRCUS project - Education through Characters with emotional
Intelligence and Role-playing Capabilities that Understand Social
interaction - has been funded by the EU Framework 6 programme and is due to
start in March 2006 for 33 months. It has 9 partners - three in the UK,
three in Germany, one each in Portugal, Italy and Switzerland, and a number
of associated schools in all three countries. The project involves the
application of ideas from improvisational drama and intelligent agent
technology developed in the earlier VICTEC project to the domain of Personal
and Social Education for 8-12 year old children, focusing on anti-bullying
programmes and the extension of this work to 13-14 year olds on the topic
of refugee children in schools. It aims to develop empathy and the ability
to take different perspectives on social situations by using autonomous
computer-based characters to act out unscripted narratives emerging from
interaction between them.
