I must admit I've been intrigued by some of the more
esoteric pieces of lore that my friend has revealed
when talking of Tibetan Buddhism...such as its being a
'Stellar Religion' and tidbits such as one should be
initiated before using a dhorje...
She did say (regarding the author I already
mentioned,Martin Brauen),
'I noticed that after than one book, he then put out a
photo book, and
has now disappeared. Its my belief that whoever
taught him was quite
bothered by all the secrets that have been included in
it, and put a stop
to it. '
So like a lot of religious traditions I guess there is
a point where it becomes very closed...making it very
difficult to get imformation.
Now for my introduction.
I am not an academic, but a magickal practitioner who
writes the occasional article.
I was pointed towards the list in its original
incarnation when I was researching Gender within
Magickal Traditions and Practice.
This is a subject I am still engrossed in researching
(probably always will be...its not the smallest field
of interest!)and near two years of focus on the
specifics of menstruation and its effect on magickal
practice sees me still amassing imformation...though
occasionally veering off on a related but different
tangent for a little light relief!
Just been reading Raphael Patais wonderful 'Spirit
Possession in Judaism'
(Wayne State University Press 2003)
which has some interesting insights into
possession/trance states (would also be of interest
for Hannah, for her research into death/the spirit
world).
Great to have the list on the go again!
