Looking for a little clarification. Are you suggesting that Tibetan
Buddhists
do magic more or less despite the guidance to put such things aside, but
don't
acknowledge it?
Or do you mean that they do magic, know they do magic, and are--as
Buddhists--pretty much unbothered by it? (This is the view that was
passed to me.)
My suspicion is that communities of Westerners who are Buddhists
may favor a take on orthodoxy that communities of Easterners who
are Buddhists don't. Western Buddhist communities are, I think,
enclaves that draw little support from the environing culture.
