Hello Jacqueline! Good to see you here - though currently it's your
book of Icelandic legends that I most want to have, especially after
that wonderful conference in June in Iceland! I must, though, get
hold of 'The Lore of the Land'.
I should follow suit and do the introductions thing. I'm Jenny
Blain, and teach and (attempt to) do research at Sheffield Hallam
University. Current research is on British Sacred Sites, heritage,
landscape, and pagan - including but not restricted to magical -
practices within sacred landscapes. Another main focus in on Seidr as
North European magic, and I've a book on 'Nine Worlds of Seid-Magic',
and a few articles about that including one recently in Studies in
Religion/Sciences Religieuses, and another (with Robert Wallis)
forthcoming in Ritual Studies. There are a number of ways in which
both seidr (past or present), and current practices at sacred sites,
connect with folk magic...
The Sacred Sites project (url below in sig) is directed by myself and
Robert, and we're currently trying to write a book from that
research, in the next few months, for a contract with Sussex Academic
Press.
Waes hal,
Jenny
>David,
>It's nice to have the list reactivated, and I hope it

>To introduce myself: I am Jacqueline Simpson, an
>academic folklorist, and have written a good many

>articles etc. My current one, co-written with Jennifer

>England's Legends".
>The kind of magic I'm interersted in is traditional
>folk magic, and my approach is historical. I know
