Hi,
Great to have the list active again! My name is Chris Miles, I am
currently an Asst. Prof. in the Faculty of Communication and Media
Studies at Eastern Mediterranean University. My PhD, many moons ago,
was on the influence of Zeno's paradoxes of motion on twentieth-century
fiction and philosophy, and since then I have moved into increasingly
cross-disciplinary research areas clustered around rhetoric,
cybernetics (particularly second-order cybernetics), persuasion and
paradox...and occultism (when I canm get away with it in any academic
context). I should have an article coming out in "The Pomegranate: The
International Journal of Pagan Studies" next year which is a radical
re-writing of a paper on Austin Spare and neo-shamanism that I
presented at the International Assoc. for the History of Religions
conference in Tokyo this March. I am currently working on an
article-length study (from a rhetorical analysis perspective) of the
early print advertising produced by The Sorcerer's Apprentice for the
IOT and Chaos-related material they published in the 1980s.
(Does this make me even less employable than Dave Evans?)
Chris
