Hi everyone,
Good to see so many familiar names, and many new ones as
well! I'm Sabina Magliocco, and I'm an academic folklorist
teaching in the anthropology department at California State
University - Northridge. I've published on the
globalization of festivals and the ritual year in Italy, and
most recently on Neopaganism in the United States (_Witching
Culture: Folklore & Neo-Paganism in America_ [2004] and _Neo-
Pagan Sacred Art & Altars: Making Things Whole_ [2001]). My
current project examines folk magic and healing traditions
in Italy, looking for possible connections between them and
the practices (including reclaimed, Neo-Pagan practices) of
Italian Americans.
I'm also the editor of Western Folklore, a peer-reviewed
journal on international folkloristics; if any of you have
article manuscripts you'd like me to look at, or ideas for a
special issue, please contact me off-list at
<[log in to unmask]>. I can't make every issue on
magic, but would be happy to include papers on it regularly.
I look forward to future exchanges.
Best,
Sabina
