Dear all
Just sending you news of a conference later this month:
ROLE OF WOMAN IN THE HISTORY OF GEOLOGY CONFERENCE
28 November 2005, The Geological Society of London, Burlington House
The role of women in the history of Geology is the first conference of its
kind to be held by the Geological Society of London. It examines the vast
range of positions that women have held in the evolution of the science of
geology as helpers, collectors, illustrators, translators, geologists and
museum curators.
These women have played significant roles but remained hidden to us until
now. This conference will attempt to put the record right.
Registration is from 9.15am and a free wine reception takes place at 6pm.
Registration is GBP25.00 for non members of HOGG and GBP15.00 for members.
This includes tea coffee and biscuits and a glass of wine as well as a
booklet of abstracts of the papers given. There will also be posters
illustrating aspects of women's contributions.
The proceedings of the conference will be published as a book in 2007 by the
Geological Society.
