Dear all
As you know Education for Change Ltd is currently evaluating SOSIG
to make recommendations about its future funding and development as a research
resource. It will be presented to the ESRC alongside the Review of the
Information Environment in the Social Sciences that is also currently being
undertaken.
If you have already sent in individuals names we will be sending them out a
separate invitation to complete this survey, but for those who haven't had a
chance yet to do this could I ask that you publicise this to your colleagues.
Given the large number of surveys and reviews that have been going on in the
last few months there is likely to be an element of survey fatigue in the
community but it is important that we get a good representation of users so any
help you can give in helping to publicise this will be extremely helpful.
Below is the evaluators message about the review:
Education for Change Ltd has been commissioned by the Economic and Social
Research Council (ESRC) to evaluate SOSIG and to make recommendations about its
future funding and development as a research resource. As a SOSIG user you are
invited to inform this evaluation and the future direction of SOSIG by
contributing your views through a short survey, which should take you no more
than 10 minutes to complete.
The evaluators are aware that you may also have seen and responded to a survey
relating to the wider information environment for social science research, part
of an ongoing ESRC review that will provide valuable contextual evidence for
planning the future of SOSIG. While the two pieces of work are related, they
would like to stress that this survey deals specifically with SOSIG and urge
you to respond with your views to ensure that the evaluation of the service is
grounded in evidence from the social science community.
The survey can be completed online or downloaded in pdf format from
http://www.efc.co.uk/sosig/SOSIGusersurvey.html
Please complete online, or return a completed survey, by 9th December.
Education for Change Ltd is most grateful for your cooperation.
many thanks for your help
