This is not quite ashes, but similar: I read recently of a relic of the "grease" of St
Lawrence, who was grilled to death. I seem to recall, as well, that Bede mentioned
the mixing of martyrs' ashes in water as a thaumaturgically effective cure, but I
could be wrong about that.
