Hi all,
This is an email I've had from Alex Martin at QMUL regarding their DPM
problem (the problem being that their pool is being referred to by the
wrong name, the TURL that is passed during a globus-url-copy refers to a
the machines name on the private netwrok, se01.htc.esc.qmul)
------
I believe I have tracked the source of these problems.
It appears theat the daemon started by /etc/rc.d/init.d/dpm
is sensitive to the resolution of the short hostname to
FQ hostname.
(In general for our cluster we use the same short hostname
for both networks and try to resolve hostnames internally first)
I note that the settings in
/etc/sysconfig/dpm
have been fully qualified.
I can probably do a hack-around for the moment...but I believe
it should be reported as a bug.
------
They have the following settings in /etc/sysconfig/dpm
export DPNS_HOST=se01.esc.qmul.ac.uk
export DPM_HOST=se01.esc.qmul.ac.uk
DPMCONFIGFILE=/opt/lcg/etc/DPMCONFIG
But whether they have this or
export DPNS_HOST=se01
etc
doesn't seem to make any difference to their situation. Where things do
seem to matter is the resolution of the short hostname se01 -> domainname
in dns. This depends on the contents of /etc/resolv.conf which contains,
; generated by /sbin/dhclient-script
search htc.esc.qmul
nameserver 10.1.7.252
nameserver 10.1.7.251
Does anyone have any comments on this situation?
Cheers,
Greig
