SCHOOL OF DISABILITY STUDIES
Applicants are invited for a tenure stream position in the School of
Disability Studies to begin August 1, 2006.
The School of Disability Studies is the first of its kind in Canada to
provide undergraduate degree education from a disability studies
perspective. It is based on ideas and theories that account for disability
disadvantage in social and political terms.
The successful candidate will have a completed doctorate in a related field.
The candidate will have a demonstrated record of scholarship and research
that utilizes arts-informed methods and builds knowledge from a disability
studies perspective. In light of the concentration in the School on distance
delivery the candidate will have internet-based course design and on-line
teaching experience. The person selected must be highly motivated and
self-directed. In addition we require a faculty member who has strong
communication skills, both verbal and written, and who has demonstrated
links with national and international disability-related organizations.
Finally the candidate must have the ability to work as a team member, a
demonstrated commitment to collaborative community work, and a passion for
guiding students towards knowledge and social justice.
