Dear Rosemary and others...
Can you please give me a ring urgently:- 07729387405
I need yours and others support within the movement. A friend of mine has
just been sectioned, under s3, MHA into a mental health unit in Hull and she
is being abuse there and they are forcing her to have treatment against a
will, in which is a basic human and civil rights abuse, especially under the
precedent 'Wilkinson' case within the ECHR. They are also delaying her basic
human rights to a Mental Health Tribrunal, which under the ECHR has to be
convened within 8 weeks.
I am very disturbed to hear the abuse she is experiencing within this unit
aT Newbrighes, in Hull, under the care of the Humber Mental Health NHS
Training Trust and I urgently need yours and others support in Yvonne case.
None of the staff have not got any training of Protection Of Vulnerable
Adults Procedure(POVA) and also DDA 15 and HRA 1998, and especially no basic
and specialist training by Senior Consultant Psychiatrists and Psychologists
and Mental Health staff around Autisitic Spectrum Disorders and
Neurodiversity. As many of you are well informed I've been campaigning for
this, since 1995, locally, nationally and internationally, but nothing seems
to be changing much, why?
*Like many women with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other neurodiverse
impairments she has been misdiagnosed with 'bipolar(manic) depression and if
she is neurodiverse then the Trust need to be very careful because
'Lithium', or any other psychiatric treatments may cause her great harm if
she is neurodiverse and on the Autistic Dpectrum and ADHD.
*Have they not 'learned any lesson' from the Piers Bolduc case?
As many of you many be informed I am involved in an independent researcher
and consultancy role working with the Mental Health Action Group, Hull and I
have spoken with Hazel Pottage, one of the MHAG Trustees and we are going to
have an urgent meeting on Tuesday to discuss her case and see what support
MHAG can offer.
The Humber Trust are refusing her the right to an independent advocate and
also taken any complaints from myself around the assault by another patient
and abuse suffered by Yvonne while in the care of the Humber Trust. They
also will not give hear access to her records.
I have asked for Yvonne to be referred to Professsor Howlin, ASD's clinical
expert for a second opinion, but I'm being ignored. This is her right.
Yours
Colin Revell
