You be interested to know that Microform (who film and distribute
printed archives on microfilm and CD) have signed an agreement with the
BBC to film part of the huge collection of audience data held at the BBC
Written Archive. (The General Strike files and BBC Handbooks are already
available).
The first stage is for the period up to 1950. The Radio Daily
Listening Barometers (1939-1950 - daily report detailing audience
figures for individual programmes) and the Radio Audience Reaction
Reports (1937-1951 - approximately 14,000 reports some of individual
programmes and some for broader areas eg children's programming) should
both be available early in 2006, initially as microfilms but then either
on CD or online.
The next stage will start on the TV and radio data for the 1950s.
