CALL FOR PAPERS
CONGRIPS
American Political Science Association (APSA)
Philadelphia, 31 August - 3 September 2006
"Italy in the international arena: beyond the EU and the US?"
Program Chair: Maurizio Carbone (University of Glasgow)
This year the Conference Group on Italian Politics & Society (CONGRIPS)
will hold a panel on the role of Italy in the international area. In view
of the APSA annual conference a similar panel has been planned for the UK
Political Studies Association (PSA), to be held in Reading in April 2006.
While the PSA panel concentrates on "Italy in the international arena:
between the EU and the US", the APSA panel will concentrate, although not
exclusively, on "Italy in the international arena: beyond the EU and the
US?". Therefore, of particular interest would be papers on the following
topics:
1) Italy in the Mediterranean
2) Role of Italy in Africa
3) Relations with China and Russia
4) Role of Italy in Asia
5) Role of Italy in the Balkans
6) Italy and Latin America
7) Italy and international organisations (i.e. reform of the UN)
The aim is to prepare the publication of an edited book on the role of
Italy in the international arena after the end of the Cold War.
Paper abstracts (circa 250 words), including author's institutional
affiliation, should be e-mailed by 24 January 2006 to Maurizio Carbone
([log in to unmask]). For further information, please do not
hesitate to contact Dr. Carbone.
