Dear Local History list members,
I apologise for only just thinking of this. I have been following
the 'stained cloths' debate with interest and the penny has only just
dropped that some of you may be interested in a workshop I'm involved
in organising next week (eve of 18th but predominantly day of
19th). We're looking at the relationship between masculinities and
femininities and the making of built spaces of various kinds
(domestic, urban, rural, civic, for example), in historical
perspective spanning from the early modern period to the mid-
twentieth century. As we have some funding from the British Academy,
Economic History Society and Design History Society the workshop fee
is fairly low at £25.00. The location is central London. If anyone
would like to know more, or for full programme details and a booking
form, please email me on [log in to unmask] It would be
great if 'Local History' members could join us.
Best regards,
Lesley Whitworth
