Contact me if you think I might be of assistance. I'm on sabbatical,
not a committee member. There's almost nothing in the way of disability
studies here, but there's definitely interest in changing that for the
better.

RE: Call for Referrals
As part of the President's Interdisciplinary Initiative on Arts and
Humanities, the College of Liberal Arts is conducting an international
search for extraordinary scholars to fill up to six new regular faculty
positions in the humanities. This search began in fall 2004 and will
continue in academic year 2005/06 with appointments starting in fall
semester 2006 or spring semester 2007.
On behalf of the Search Committee, we would like to request your
assistance with the committee's efforts to broaden and diversify
recruitment efforts. We welcome referrals of exemplary candidates whom
you feel have /significant interdisciplinary accomplishments/ in
research or creative work and teaching. We especially appreciate
applications from faculty of color. A full position announcement can be
found at _http://www2.cla.umn.edu/admin/employment/default.html__
_If you prefer, you may contact outstanding candidates you would like to
refer and encourage them to apply. We ask, however, that you notify the
committee of the *names and email addresses* of candidates with whom you
have made contact.
Appointments will be made at the rank of professor with tenure,
associate professor with tenure or assistant professor (tenure-track)
depending upon qualifications and depth of related experience.
Candidates may apply by submitting a letter of application referring
specifically to this search and describing both their current research
and scholarship and their teaching philosophy, a current curriculum
vitae, a */writing sample/* */of 25 pages or less/* and the names and
complete contact information for at least 3 references. Additional
materials may be requested at a later date.
Application materials should be emailed or sent to:
