Hi – I know I’m one of the ‘silent people’ on the site (mainly due to lack
of time – I’ve no time to go and look up the latest theorist / quote etc so
I’m afraid you’ll have to live with my limited existing academic knowledge -
or what I am reading at the time!) but I thought some of you might be
tickled by this one.
A friend of mine makes Dolls Houses and has given me an article about The
Nutshell Studies - a series of rooms / dolls house all depicting murder or
suicide scenes (however none of them are straightforward and the viewer is
left to decide if dolly really committed suicide or if in fact she was
murdered whilst doing her ironing) . They include accurate forensic detail,
bloodstains and bullet holes and were used by the police in the 1940’s for
training.
The book is called the Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death by Corinne May
Botz – I don’t think the article is available electronically but if anyone
is further interested I will copy it and send it in the post.
