The British Lirbrary has a talk (30 Nov) by Alexander Smith on the "A Life
of their Own - How Literary Characters Come into Existence, Sometimes
Uninvited" ; ..sometimes characters arrive unannounced and then lead lives
beyond the control of the author.
This concept seem interesting; I wonder which of Kiping's could be thus
described? He based many on people he had met; so these presumably were
not "unannounced"; for this to be so, do they arise from the
subconscious? Is this psychological territory?
