Dear All,

Just a quick update on all things RMS North. Firstly Jamie is away on holiday so any correspondence re the Bulletin will be delayed. All the Preston meeting presentations etc should be available from the RMS website. Secondly, did anyone see the article in The Times the other day on the prevarication of FoI responses? It can be found at: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1804622,00.html, well worth a read! Thirdly, we are still in the process of setting up our December meeting in Sheffield but hopefully Dik Allison will be able to update us soon on this. Fourth, we have had a good response for speakers for our 2006 Conference in Manchester but it is never too late so if you know of any presenters, please get them to get in touch with Paul Dodgson at [log in to unmask] Lastly, and I have to apologise profusely for sending this "globally" but I still couldn't find the original requestor for a low cost cataloguing/document tracking system which I have kept a look out for since the original posting. As I indicated at our Preston meeting, I have found one but at the time, it wasn't quite ready. I can now report it is ready and I think it is well worth a look at.

As I understand, the system is relatively inexpensive (c£1500); scaleable (additional users at 10%); simple to install and easy to use. The various tables include the following functionality:

Manage Locations

Manage Users

Manage Departments

Book in a Document

Book out a Document

Manage a Documents Destroyed Status

Manage Documents

Find a Document

Reports

Other Features:

*	Portable Data Collection - use of bar code scanners etc
*	Communications to other systems

*	Customisation of the system to your exact requirements
*	Integration of systems on to the Internet
*	Support Contracts
*	Training
*	Data Set Up service

Minimum Requirements:

*	PC 2Ghz
*	512Mbytes RAM + Data Space
*	500 Mbytes free disk space
*	15" SVGA Monitor
*	CD ROM Drive

Please get back to me at [log in to unmask] if you are interested, I can forward the contact details of the people involved. PLEASE DON'T USE THE REPLY BUTTON AS EVERYONE WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE POSTING!
