Project Records Manager
£40,000 per annum including LWA
Full time, 9 month contract
The British Postal Museum & Archive (BPMA) manages The Royal Mail Archive
and provides records management services and advice to Royal Mail Group,
which incorporates Royal Mail, Post Office Counters Ltd, and Parcelforce.
We are seeking an experienced records manager to work as part of a cross-
business team, providing expert input to a current review of Royal Mail
Group’s records management practices. Royal Mail is a public body subject
to Public Records and Freedom of Information Acts, and a large limited
company in the process of major transition and modernization.
Royal Mail Group employs c. 25,000 office based staff, spread throughout
the UK, and the challenge will include creating a business classification
scheme, making recommendations to improve records management in accordance
with the FOI Section 46 code of practice, and helping to shape those
recommendations into a business case.
The successful candidate will have experience of developing and
implementing a variety of records management systems, preferably within a
large and diverse organisation. Knowledge of both paper and electronic
record keeping systems, Business Classification Scheme design and
implementation of retention schedule programmes will be a particular
