According to "Collieries in the Manchester Coalfields" by Geoffrey Hayes,
pub. De Archaeologische Pers (undated but c. 1980's) the bottom seam was the
Crombouke Mine which was intersected by the downcast shaft at 2,770 feet
below surface, and the Roger seam was below this. By 1935 the Crombouke was
being worked beneath cover of 3,800 feet.
The book gives good technical details of Bradford and neighbouring
collieries, all now closed.
