Dear Mike,
To the best of my knowledge, and with all the data and material I have seen
to date, the area was considered as worked out and of no interest - indeed, it
has never been considered as a reserve area.
Mid-Wales however received more attention than some realise during 1942/3,
but due to necessary secrecy this is not generally known even today. Bryn-yr-Afr
Mine for example was considered a good source of Zinc in a time of dire
necessity, but, due to the easement of supply as per my prev. comm. to the List, it
became of secondary importance, and any activity was suspended.
I will be posting to the List soon on Brunner, Mond's activities in N.Wales,
and the reason why (1898 -1905), since I have been researching same for some
while, and am happy to share this info. with all.
Regards, Bernard
