Dear post-soccers
The annual conference of the Royal Geographical Society-Institute of British Geographers
will be held 30 August-1st Sept 2006.
The RGS-IBG Post-Socialist Geographies Research Group has a good record of running
sessions at this conference, and we would like to continue running sessions which would be
of value to our membership and more widely.
This email is a call for participants to run sessions under the PSGRG banner at next
year's conference. We can request up to 3 sessions plus up to 2 run jointly with other RGS
Research Groups. We would like people to come forward with a particular theme for
session(s) for the conference which they would then be willing to take on and organise
(issue a CFP, colate abstracts, run the session etc). We already have a couple of sessions
likely to run on the themes of 'Building capitalism under post-socialism' and 'Sustainable
development and sustainability under postsocialism' and people to convene them but have
scope for a few more.
If you would like to do this please get back to me ASAP. I need to submit our request by
1st Nov 2005 so time is limited and I would need to agree sessions with people and then
ask for details of the session. Please get back to me by 26/10/05 or earlier.
Thanks,
Craig.
