Morning to all and apologies for not responding on Friday,
Following Wendy’s Qu on what is accepted as a suitable Desk top Study?
Taking a pragmatic approach and covering any future liability issues I
could be tempted to accept a consultant’s interpretation of an
Environmental search, summary of geological profile and a Conceptual Site
Model. As part of the planning consultation Env health would have a good
idea relatively quickly of the perceived likely hood of the presence of
contamination and a desk study could/would provide documented evidence of
this perceived assumption.
BS: 10175 requires a walkover survey if deemed necessary. If a walkover is
not required then a brief paragraph stating why may be sufficient.
Tong in cheek here but I believe this could meet the minimum requirements
for a desk study whilst being compliant with PPS23 further more I suggest
this could be suitable as a minimum desk study for new build on Greenfield
sites or conservatories and could be carried out at a reasonable cost.
