Folks
There have been several soil washing projects in the UK in recent years
- and there is a CLAIRE report on one of them available from
www.claire.co.uk,
There is also a good review in a couple of CIRIA reports SP107 and C549,
and oodles on the WWW.
So if you don't want to take the word of a vendor alone then have a look
at the above for starters,
Regards

Dear All,
I have already responded to Jessica on this subject by telephone since I
did not feel this was the correct forum for discussing the commercial
aspects of soil-washing. I would however like to stress that, contrary
to the advice some consultants may be giving, soil-washing can be both
practical and cost-effective in the right circumstances. We as a company
have executed 3 UK projects in the last year. Modern, compact plant is
available and more is coming on the market as demand increases.
Should any of you wish to learn more about soil-washing First Faraday
are running a course in Nottingham tomorrow where I shall be one of the
speakers, I understand there are still places available, for more
information see: www.firstfaraday.co.uk/techtraining.htm .
Regards,
Guy Pomphrey

Subject: Soil Washing?
Hello!
We have a site contaminated with cyanide, lead and PAH (amongst others!)
and the developer has costed dig and dump at millions of pounds. They
also state that soil washing is impractical and not cost effective -
without providing the kind of in depth costing that they have for dig
and dump. As they will have some of the equipment already on site we
can't see how soil washing can cost more - considering the distance to
special landfill from where we are!
Does anyone have any good links or rough cost comparisons of soil
washing to other options?
Many thanks,
Jessica
