***ISERC PhD Scholarships***
Science Foundation Ireland has funded a cluster of software engineering
research projects led by researchers who are members of the Irish Software
Engineering Research Consortium – ISERC. The cluster consists of four
projects related to the development of high-quality software in a globally
distributed environment. One of these projects focuses on social,
organisational and cultural aspects of global software development. There
are two vacancies for doctoral students with a relevant honours degree, and
preferably a social sciences background, to join the project.
Researchers would be working with a multinational and interdisciplinary team
of researchers from the University of Limerick, lead by Prof. Liam Bannon.
They would be based at the Interaction Design Centre (http://www.idc.ul.ie )
and given the chance to work in an innovative and open work environment.
The University of Limerick (http://www.ul.ie) is set in a large countryside
campus, strategically situated on the Shannon river banks, on a scenic 18th
century estate, encompassing excellent arts and sports facilities and
surrounded by several student villages providing excellent dedicated
accommodation facilities. The city of Limerick itself, with its Georgian
style buildings and medieval landmarks, is located at short distance from
Shannon international airport, in the West of Ireland, serviced by leading
low budget carriers to a variety of international destinations.
Salary: €12,700; rates are in Euro and per annum. PhD Scholarships are tax
free.
Duration: 3 years
Fees: Fees for EU nationals are fully covered.
People with backgrounds in social sciences and interested in distributed
collaborative work, CSCW, cultural differences and software development,
interested in pursuing doctoral studies are encouraged to apply.
Applications (including CV, list of publications and short description of
research interests) should be sent by November 12th to Dr. Gabriela Avram
