We're 1 in 4 with internal cover but found the internal covering doesn't
particularly help our cause, financially. We cover our absent colleagues'
daytime shopfloor sessions but that only takes our clinical PAs from 6/week
to 7/week on average so we can't claim for it really. We do have one
concession in that we don't internally cover our absent colleagues' resident
evenings - they get a junior locum for that - but we do "cover" nominally
from home on those nights. But cover from home is banded as 1 in 4 or
greater, isn't it, so we can't claim anything extra for that either.
