Hello all:
There are a few of us who have been discussing the nature of on-line communities and conversations, and the best way to develop them.
We do have a "forum" page on our website (the actual link is http://www.aacorn.net/phpBB2/index.php but you can get there by clicking on "forum" from any AACORN page).
The way a forum works is as follows:
1. conversations are "topics" which are grouped into broader categories. Right now, our only category is "open discussion", and I've posted two topics in it for discussion.
2. ANYONE on the internet can read the conversations. However, only registered users can post their own comments to the topics, or create their own topics.
3. The conversations remain posted over time. This is the real benefit of a forum, as people can read a conversation long after it happened.
3. All AACORNers can register as a user. It's not automatic - you need to pick a user name and a password, and you're registered! Just follow the instructions on the "Welcome" category. Only members of AACORN will be allowed to register.
I'm interested to see if this is a worthwhile part of our webpage. Maybe it is....maybe it isn't. If you're interested, give it a try! I've posted a couple of topics as conversation catalysts, but you're free to add your own.
