A fine statement, Nick. The crux of the matter seems to be this, as
you say:

First off, in what sense do you man "realize"? Simply to recognize (as
the term often is used) or to attain?
Secondly, we all may agree that information alone may be tool for
better or for worse, depending on the values that determine its use.
To say that information alone is insufficient does not address the
underlying problem so apparent today (as always), that values are not
usually the product of objective analysis. Belief trumps knowledge.
How is wisdom related to the issue of belief?
A survey of the "values clarification" movement may be useful.
