Hello all,
I'm attaching the draft that Gillian Bowden and I have come up with in
response to the British Psychological Society consultation on the Draft Code
of Ethics and Conduct. It was agreed that we would do this following the
workshop at the UK National Community Psychology Conference in Newcastle on
October 14. Apologies for cross posting, as I have also sent it individually
to people who were present in the workshop.
I intend to send it off by next Friday 28 October, as the deadline for the
consultation is 1 November.
Due to the short turn around, it would be difficult for us to have an
extensive debate about the content of the letter, and to make multiple
amendments and further consultation back and forth. The letter is based on
the discussion that we had in the workshop at the conference, and the
membership of the workshop agreed that they would like to be included as
co-authors of the letter. I am sending it to the list, so that anyone from
the list who was not at the workshop can let me know if they would also like
to be added to the list of names at the end of the letter.
I am also happy for anyone who has reservations about aspects of the letter
to amend it as appropriate and send it independently to the BPS.
I would also encourage anyone who has time to download the consultation
document from:
http://www.bps.org.uk/the-society/ethics-rules-charter-code-of-conduct/code-
of-conduct/new-code-consult/new-code-consult_home.cfm and reply using their
format, which we were not able to do from the workshop.
Best wishes,
Wendy
