The other reason for the change was to "rationalise" induction, i.e. general
hospital induction. Previously, JHOs started on the
Tuesday-before-the-first-Wednesday in August (occasionally that's 31st
July!) so SHOs had their general induction on the first Wednesday. In
February, as you point out, most PRHOs were already in another post so they
arrived with us on the Wednesday when they were "induced", meaning our SHOs,
although also arriving on the Wednesday, couldn't have their hospital
induction until the Thursday. At least that's what happened in our Trust and
I suspect in a great deal others.
From now on, PRHOs will always have their induction on the Tuesday, and SHOs
on the Wednesday, no matter what time of the year it is. So you see, it's
nice and simple now, and still no mention of the full moon!
