Steve, I think this is a little negative. I'd rather take the collective
approach that we should all be happy with them and if we are not then I
would not expect anyone to run them. I'd rather avoid individual UK
sites dropping VOs. This is why we are having the GridPP-wide
discussion. Let's not make our minds up now.
I would summarise my position as - 'I am willing to be persuaded on the
requirement for the VObox, but I haven't been yet.' and 'There may be a
model for running such a service that will be acceptable to sites but it
isn't the one we have been presented with so far.'
If people start saying they are against VOboxs per se then we have
little room for negotiation. I am sure there is an acceptable solution
to this so we should work towards finding it. The biggest problem, as
several of you have pointed out, is that this is a one-sided
conversation with no input from the experiments.
